Denim Upcycle
The term “upcycle” is defined by the Oxford Dictionary as “the reuse of discarded items or materials in such a way as to create a product of higher quality or value than the original”. It was used for first time in the 1990s as a blend of up- and recycle.
LABEL is an innovative collection made from post-consumer waste promoted by Beyond Retro. This collection aligns our passion for original design with a mounting concern for declining global resources. It is part of Beyond Retro’s Denim initiative, whose goal is to save over 8 million pairs of jeans from landfills.
Thanks to the numerous thrift stores and collectors that provide Bank & Vogue with salvage clothing to source denim from, Beyond Retro partners with fashion brands to introduce sustainable clothing options to the high street. What a fashionable way to recycle discarded textiles!
Spring Donations, What Trend Should We Expect this Year?
The price of credential clothing is always a good indicator of how donations are flowing, as price is directly related to the offer of product in the market. The main factor impacting the availability of credential clothing in early Spring is weather. Long Winters delay the donation ramp up and also make logistics complicated.
In the past, transition from Winter to Spring has shown two different trends: either we see a sharp increase in price in March (as low volumes of donations continue), or we experience a smooth adjustment. What trend will we see this year?

The Bureau of International Recycling echoes this fact, and showcases the crucial role of global recycling industry in preserving our planet’s future by celebrating the Global Recycling Day on March 18th.
